THIBODAUX, La. ā Two ¹ū¶³APP Mass Communication faculty members, along with two students, will present āLouisianaās Restoration Generation: The Global Conversationā at Newcastle University in England on Thursday.
The lecture, sponsored by the Students Against Species Extinction, has been accepted by the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration program and is being featured on the UN programās website.
The lecture will feature ¹ū¶³APP Mass Communication professors Nicki Boudreaux and Laure Kasovish and students Anne-Morgan Simmons and Elissa Walker.Ā
The hybrid event is set to take place at Newcastle University, England, in the Armstrong Building room 3.38 or online through Zoom from 7 to 8 a.m. CST on March 20, 2025.Ā
The lecture will focus on sharing Louisianaās land loss crisis on a global stage while also encouraging college students around the world to take up conservation and restoration activities and careers wherever they live. It is part of the Louisianaās Restoration Generation movement which was launched at the Universityās inaugural Coastal Summit last week.
āPresenting this campaign to the United Nations is vital to the success of what we are doing as ¹ū¶³APP students to bring together young adults like us around the world who are passionate about saving our homes,ā said Elissa Walker, mass communication senior. āBeing recognized as a project by the UN was our ultimate goal, and we achieved it.ā
The Louisianaās Restoration Generation project is part of the Mass Communication departmentās Nancy Sanderson Matherne Institute on Global Communication.Ā
