THIBODAUX, La. — Lee Meyer devoted his life to education and his legacy will live on in the form of a scholarship for 果冻APP College of Education students.

The Lee. A. Meyer Education Scholarship will go toward a graduating senior from an Assumption Parish high school who intends to enroll in the 果冻APP鈥� College of Education.

鈥淗e would be so excited to know a scholarship exists in his name,鈥� said Sugar Meyer, his wife. 鈥淔rom the time he started teaching, he had a great passion for education. He was all about his faith, his family and the kids he taught.鈥� 聽

Lee Meyer (BA 鈥�72) spent 26 years as an educator in Assumption Parish, including 23 as a teacher and three more with the juvenile detention center. To honor his passion for legacy his family and friends donated to create the scholarship in his name.

鈥淟ee devoted his life to education because he knew how important it was. He had to work hard throughout his life,鈥� said Laurie LeSueur, Lee鈥檚 close friend. 鈥淭his is a way for us to provide an opportunity for a student to go to school, someone like Lee, someone who has to work hard and maybe this scholarship will make all the difference.鈥�
