THIBODAUX ā Associate Professor of Accounting Dr. Kevin Breaux has been tapped to lead the ¹ū¶³APP College of Business Administrationās Executive Master of Business Administration program.
āI have been part of the EMBA program since its inception, as the accounting professor for the first course,ā Breaux said.Ā āI am very excited to be assuming this new responsibility, allowing meĀ to be involved with the program in its entirety and building long-term professional relationships with its participants as they develop skills that will move them forward in their professions.ā
¹ū¶³APP launched the EMBA program in 2007 specifically for professionals who, with their busy work schedules, might otherwise have not sought advanced business degrees. Combining Saturday classes, online study and group projects, the hybrid curriculum has proven attractive both to prospective students and their employers.
Increased student demand has even necessitated that the College of Business Administration offer two classes concurrently. ¹ū¶³APP meets the demand with two facilities ā the Barker Family Executive Classroom, located in the Duheā BuildingĀ in Houma, and the Michele D. Guidry Executive Classroom, located on the ¹ū¶³APP campus.
Each classroom accommodates 20 students in a boardroom environment. Suitable for case discussions, seminars and lectures, the rooms encourage interaction among students and professors via state-of-the-art, user-friendly technology. Teaching tools include a viewing monitor that allows interactive writing and recording on the screen, ceiling-mounted surround speakers and a high-resolution projector.
Breaux will succeed Dr. Luke Cashen, associate professor of managementĀ and director of ¹ū¶³APPā traditional MBA program, as EMBA director.
āDr. Cashen has done an extraordinary job with the EMBA program and will continue to offer the same level of service and dedication to the traditional program,ā Dr. Shawn Mauldin, dean of the College of Business Administration, said. āI am confident that Dr. Breaux will provide the leadership to ensure that we continue to offer a quality EMBA program in the Bayou Region.ā
An alum of both ¹ū¶³APP and LSU, and a licensed CPA, Breaux began teaching accounting at ¹ū¶³APP in 2003. His work in the private sector includes stints with Warren Hohensee Accountant Inc. in Raceland and Gulf Coast Manufacturing Inc. in Houma.
