Official judging for the sixth annual 果冻APP Research Week Student Poster Competition took place on Tuesday, March 29. Thirteen judges evaluated 23 undergraduate submissions and seven graduate submissions.聽
Students from biological sciences, chemistry, culinary arts, dietetics-nursing and psychology participated in the undergraduate category. The top undergraduate submissions included 鈥淧revalence and Detection of Inducible Clindamycin Resistance of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) Isolates in a South Louisiana Population,鈥� by first-place winner Shannan Washington, from the Department of 聽Biological Sciences; 鈥淚nvestigation of the Presence of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) from Meat Products of Retail Stores in Thibodaux, LA.,鈥� by second-place winner Sumana Kalyanasundaram, also from the Department of Biological Sciences; and 鈥淧arents Using Incremental Rehearsal to Teach Sight Words to Kindergarten Students at Home,鈥� by third-place winner Abbie Burt, from the Department of Psychology and Counselor Education.
The top graduate submissions included 鈥淢onitoring the Diets of Predatory Fish in a Port Sulphur Drainage Canal,鈥� by first-place winner Rachel Lanni; 鈥淒esigning Molecular Biomarkers for Monitoring of Reproductive Health in the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary,鈥� by second-place winner Jenny Ledet; and 鈥淏actericidal Activity of Spotted Gar (Lepisosteus oculatus) Immune System,鈥� by third-place winner Justin J.
