¹ū¶³APP Sinfonia Singers to perform in Talbot Theater

THIBODAUX – The Sinfonia Singers, ¹ū¶³APP’s male chorus, will perform an eclectic concert of choral music at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, in Talbot Theater.

Sponsored by the Omicron Beta Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia at ¹ū¶³APP – and directed by Dr. Kenneth S. Klaus, professor of music and director of choral activities – the chorus will sing a wide variety of songs. Dr. Norman Dale Norris, assistant professor of education, will accompany the singers on the piano.

The group will present part-songs written by members of the national Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity – as well as traditional fraternity songs. Attendees will also be treated to the rarely heard three stanzas of the ā€œStar-Spangled Banner,ā€ followed by an arrangement of the ¹ū¶³APP Alma Mater.

Additional selections will include ā€œThere is Nothin’ like a Dameā€ from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s ā€œSouth Pacificā€ musical; ā€œNocturnal Serenade,ā€ a part-song by Franz Schubert; ā€œPrayer of the Childrenā€ by Kurt Bestor; and ā€œFind the Cost of Freedomā€ by Stephen Stills. The concert will close with a selection of Christmas songs including ā€œWhat Child is This?ā€ by L. Farnell;Ā  ā€œGod Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemenā€ arranged by Philip Kern; ā€œGood King Wenceslasā€ arranged by Ruth Elaine Schram; and Irving Berlin’s ā€œWhite Christmasā€ as sung by The Platters.
