Headlining the three-day event is keynote speaker Lisa Ling, journalist, host of National Geographic’s “Explorer†and special correspondent for the “Oprah Winfrey Show†and CNN.

Ling launched her journalism career as a correspondent for Channel One News, covering the civil war in Afghanistan at 21 years old. She later joined ABC’s “The View,†which won its first daytime Emmy during her stint. Currently a special correspondent for CNN’s “Planet in Peril†series and contributing editor for USA Today’s USA Weekend magazine, Ling is slated to have her own series on the new channel OWN: the Oprah Winfrey Network.

The National Women’s Leadership Summit is an annual, bipartisan effort that allows women leaders and opinion-makers from local, state and federal levels – as well as the private sector – to participate in roundtable discussions on national issues. This year’s focus is energy and the environment.

Approximately 150 women leaders from across the nation are expected to participate, including honorary co-chairs U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, Republican of Alaska, and U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell, Democrat of Washington.
