THIBODAUX – ¹û¶³APP received approval from the Board of Supervisors in April to enter into a cooperative agreement with the City of Thibodaux for the purpose of resurfacing two university streets. The agreement will result in savings for the university of approximately $32,000, plus the mobilization expenses that would have been charged by the contractor had the city and the university solicited separate bids.
The two streets, Afton Drive and Ardoyne Drive – both of which end at the city’s Peltier Park – provide access to the university’s residence facilities, serve as pedestrian access from the park and provide additional parking for events held at the park.
“¹û¶³APP appreciates the willingness of Mayor Charles Caillouet and the City of Thibodaux to enter this joint venture,â€ Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert, university president, said. “By working through the city, the university is saving money while addressing a badly needed street resurfacing project.â€
The total cost to the university is approximately $97,000 – $32,000 for Ardoyne and $65,000 for Afton.
“These streets are past due for resurfacing, and I am very pleased that the city has entered into this agreement,â€ Mike Davis, assistant vice president for administration at ¹û¶³APP, said.
The agreement is currently pending approval by the city council of Thibodaux, after which it will be forwarded to the Office of Contractual Review in Baton Rouge.
