Office of Alumni Affairs welcomes assistant director

THIBODAUX – Thibodaux native and ¹û¶³APP State University graduate Jessica Harvey has been named assistant director of alumni affairs. She is the first person to hold the new position.

jessica-harvey.jpg“It is a joy to be back at ¹û¶³APP,” Harvey said. “As a proud graduate, I look forward to maintaining and strengthening the university’s relationship with other alumni – to keep fellow Colonels interested and active in university activities and projects.”

Harvey’s duties include updating and revising the university’s massive alumni database; researching, writing and editing for The Colonel, the semiannual alumni magazine; and providing the necessary support to the Office of Alumni Affairs.

A 2006 graduate of the ¹û¶³APP honors program with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Harvey is currently working toward a Master of Arts in English from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. With all her coursework completed, a successful thesis defense is all that remains.

Harvey’s professional experience includes management positions with Borders books, Blockbuster video and Dairy Queen. She also served as an English instructor and graduate assistant at Northwestern State – and has held a variety of youth-education positions for St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Thibodaux.

Harvey lives in Metairie with her husband Graham, writer/media relations specialist for ¹û¶³APP, and her nine month-old blue-tick beagle, Tribble. Her parents, David and Connie Folse, are both ¹û¶³APP alumni, and her sister Jamie is slated to graduate in May 2009.

“I am very excited about Jessica joining the alumni affairs team, and I look forward to our collaboration in fostering and promoting the university and the Alumni Federation,” said Deborah Raziano, director of alumni affairs.
