THIBODAUX – U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu has secured $6.1 million in energy-related funds for the State of Louisiana – $984,000 of which has been reserved for ¹û¶³APP State University.

Debi Benoit, director of research and sponsored programs at ¹û¶³APP, said the congressionally appropriated funds will be used to support the Clean Power and Energy Research Consortium, a joint university venture tasked to address critical scientific and engineering issues in power and energy generation.
CPERC’s goal is to develop technologies that will lead to a 10-percent reduction of fuel consumption as well as a reduction in greenhouse gasses in the United States – 10 million metric tons per year.
Partners in the consortium include ¹û¶³APP, Louisiana State University, the University of New Orleans, Tulane University and Southern University in Baton Rouge.
