Wine and Food Tasting Event to Benefit APP Students

THIBODAUX – The 12th annual Sponsor A+ Scholar Wine and Food Extravaganza is scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Bollinger Memorial Student Union at APP.

Proceeds from the event will benefit APP students who demonstrate leadership ability along with outstanding grades. “Since the fundraiser began in 1996, more than 190 APP students have been granted scholarships from the more than $240,000 raised at previous Sponsor A+ Scholar events,” Dr. David E. Boudreaux, vice president for Institutional Advancement, said.

All of the food and wine are being donated by area businesses and individuals, and the event will feature live music from Jazmine as well as silent and live auctions.

Items to be auctioned include a day fishing trip at the Cajun Resort, original primitive art by Alvin Batiste, a 2007 Mardi Gras print autographed by the cast of “The Sopranos,” a 1980 Lagniappe on the Bayou poster by Billy Ledet, a football autographed by Archie Manning, a dove hunt for two with Daniels Duplantis, a hand-carved song bird by Gene Hebert, a set of decoy prints by John Weimer with a coffee table book on rare decoys by Brian Cheramie and a variety of fine wines from the cellars of George and Shirley Picou.

“It is gratifying to see the support of this event continue to grow. APP deeply appreciates the help that all of our friends provide us. The food and wine providers, those who donate auction items, and of course, our many loyal patrons all combine to make this a really special evening,” Boudreaux said.

Tickets are $75 per couple or $50 per person. Gold sponsorships are $500 and include 20 tickets. Checks should be made payable to the APP Foundation and mailed to the APP Foundation, P.O. Box 2074, Thibodaux, LA 70310. For additional information, call the Office of Institutional Advancement at (985) 448-4134.
