Presenters: Randi Gros, LPC, NCC and Jolie LaFont-Pandey, Master’s Student
Description:
As college counseling centers expand digital services, navigating the intersection of ethical standards, state regulations, and clinical effectiveness is essential for modern practice. This interactive workshop equips mental health practitioners with practical frameworks to ethically and effectively serve student populations in virtual environments. Participants will examine critical ethical essentials including remote safety planning, maintaining digital boundaries, ensuring HIPAA compliance, and navigating privacy challenges unique to shared student housing. Additionally, the workshop highlights the operational and clinical impacts of the Counseling Compact, demonstrating how multi-state licensure portability supports continuity of care during academic breaks and remote study. Finally, attendees will explore clinical scope and assessment to identify suitable presenting concerns for teletherapy and tailor engaging virtual interventions that meet college students’ evolving needs.
