THIBODAUX ā ¹ū¶³APPās Bachelor of Science in Nursing program continues to exceed the national average on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) with a 95 percent pass rate.
The NCLEX-RN is a national standardized exam used by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing to measure a nursing candidateās minimum safety preparedness for entry-level nursing practice. With a 95 percent pass rate for first-time takers during calendar year 2015, up from 91.96 percent in 2014, the ¹ū¶³APP nursing program is well above the national pass rate of 84.5 percent and the Louisiana pass rate of 89.3 percent.
āMaintaining such an exceptional pass rate means nurses who graduate from the accredited ¹ū¶³APP nursing program are able to meet the demanding outcomes that we establish and expect, thereby supplying hospitals and health clinics with strong entry-level nurses capable of providing their patients with safe care,ā said Rebecca Lyons, Associate Dean, College of Nursing. āOur programās success is a testament to not only our hardworking students, but also our committed faculty and supportive administration.ā
In addition to above-average licensure pass rates, 90 percent of fall 2015 ¹ū¶³APP nursing graduates reported gaining employment in the nursing field prior to graduation.
