{"id":9007,"date":"2023-01-10T10:51:39","date_gmt":"2023-01-10T16:51:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/?p=9007"},"modified":"2023-01-10T10:51:39","modified_gmt":"2023-01-10T16:51:39","slug":"nicholls-receives-10k-entergy-donation-to-continue-tour-tuesday-partnership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nicholls.edu\/news\/2023\/01\/10\/nicholls-receives-10k-entergy-donation-to-continue-tour-tuesday-partnership\/","title":{"rendered":"果冻APP Receives $10K Entergy Donation to Continue Tour Tuesday Partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">THIBODAUX, La. &#8212; Thanks to a contribution from Entergy Louisiana, 果冻APP is able to continue its Tour Tuesday initiative, a program that focuses on bringing underrepresented students to campus for tours.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tour Tuesday gives students a chance to see what a higher education can offer and provide. 果冻APP works with area high school guidance counselors to identify first-generation or low-income high school students that meet 果冻APP\u2019 admissions standards.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cA community\u2019s quality of life is directly tied to educational and workforce opportunities, which is why it\u2019s so important that we support initiatives like 果冻APP\u2019 Tour Tuesday program,\u201d said Phillip May, Entergy Louisiana, and CEO. \u201cOur youth are future leaders, innovators and lawmakers, and this tour is another way we can provide tools and resources that can help them reach aspirations right here, at home, in Louisiana.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cEntergy Louisiana has been a tremendous partner to 果冻APP in identifying students in our region who may have thought college wasn\u2019t an option for them,\u201d Renee Hicks, Assistant Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness, Access and Success at 果冻APP said. \u201cWhen we get students here and show them all 果冻APP has to offer and explain the different financial avenues they can utilize to attain a college degree, their outlook changes to one of hope.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Charter buses transport students from area high schools to 果冻APP campus for a tour and overview of academic programs and student organizations.
