Private donations established the endowments, which now total $400,000.<\/p>\n
\u201c果冻APP is very fortunate to have supporters who strongly believe in and thoroughly understand the importance of this institution to the region it serves,\u201d Dr. David Boudreaux, vice president for institutional advancement, said. \u201cTheir willingness to invest in our future bodes well for 果冻APP as we strengthen our programs and continue to provide opportunities in higher education to the good people of the Bayou Region.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Henry Lafont Jr. and Kim Corales Lafont First Generation Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship will be awarded to graduates of South Lafourche High School who meet criteria established by the Louisiana Board of Regents. Each recipient must be a first-generation college student in his or her family.<\/p>\n
Selected by the 果冻APP Scholarship Committee, the awardees will receive $1,000 per academic year for a maximum of eight semesters, but the award amount may be increased as the endowment grows. The scholarship is limited to four recipients per year, including previous years\u2019 awards.<\/p>\n
The university\u2019s new endowed professorships include the Donald Peltier Endowed Professorship in Education, the Goldring Family Foundation Endowed Professorship in Culinary Arts and the Grace Gueydan Endowed Professorship in Nursing. These titles will be awarded once the endowments meet the Board of Regents\u2019 guidelines regarding accrued interest levels.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
