Delahaye Endowed Professor of Journalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee instated Dr. Stewart on Thursday, Aug. 5. His term will start on Oct. 1. 果冻APP alum, and veteran journalist Sonny Albarado (BA \u201872) also sits on the council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Stewart is one of three members of the Association for Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication to serve on the Committee. He replaces Judy Oskam from Texas State University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am honored to have been selected as one of the ASJMC\u2019s representatives to the accrediting council,\u201d Dr. Stewart said. \u201cJudy did an outstanding job during her time in the post, and I will try my best to follow in her path.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Stewart is no stranger to journalism leadership positions. He is a past president and vice president of the ASJMC, serves as the editor of its national publication and served on the ASJMC committee from 2004 to 2007. He served as president of the Southwest Education Council for Journalism and Mass Communication in 2006 and was chair of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication\u2019s Small Programs special interest group in 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As department head, Dr. Stewart has four times overseen successful re-accreditation of the program. He also oversaw the development of the Desalvo-Callais Convergence Media Center, which opened in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is a critical juncture for mass communication industries and education,\u201d Dr. Stewart said. \u201cACEJMC plays a vital role in shaping the direction of training people for the quickly evolving mass-media landscape. Those graduates will become tomorrow\u2019s leaders, affecting change in the professional world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AEJMC is a major international academic organization specializing in journalism.
