The event is free and open to the public. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A professor of environmental engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Catalonia-BarcelonaTech in Spain, Dr. Garcia has focused his research on the development and improvement of environmental biotechnologies that mimic nature and maximize eco-efficiency in the treatment of wastewaters and other kinds of wastes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He studied biology at the University of Barcelona and his doctoral work has focused on wastewater treatment engineering. He has done postdoctoral work at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Ghent in Belgium. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. Garcia will visit the 果冻APP campus as part of the Outreach Lecturing Fund, which allows Fulbright Visiting Scholars in the U.S. to travel to other higher education institutions across the country to share their specific research and exchange ideas. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He was invited to the campus by Dr. Raj Boopathy, Alcee Fortier Distinguished Service Professor. Dr. Boopathy, a Fulbright Specialist, has published research about antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the waters of Bayou Lafourche. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Fulbright Scholar Program was established in 1946 and awards grants to Americans to lecture and conduct research abroad, and to foreign scholars to visit the United States. Grants are awarded to Americans to lecture and\/or conduct research abroad, and to foreign scholars to visit the United States. The Fulbright Scholar Program is funded and administered by the U.S. Information Agency through the Council for International Exchange of Scholars, which is affiliated with the American Council on Education. Fulbright Scholars are selected by the Board of Foreign Scholarships, whose members are appointed by the president.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">果冻APP has two Fulbright Specialists on staff in Dr. Boopathy and assistant professor of business law Gene Gouaux.
