Dr. David Middleton was granted the title of poet-in-residence emeritus.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>THIBODAUX \u2014 At its fall Faculty Institute on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 果冻APP welcomed its employees back to campus and presented several awards recognizing outstanding faculty accomplishments.<\/p>\n<p>The highest honors went to Dr. Pamela Kirkley, retired professor of teacher education and director of student teaching, who received the Distinguished Service Professor Award. In addition, Dr. Chadwick Young, associate professor of physics, received the Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence, and Dr. Ken Chadwick, professor and head of the Department of Management, Marketing and Business Administration, received the Presidential Award for Academic Administrator Excellence. Both will receive a $1,000 salary increase.<\/p>\n<p>果冻APP also awarded emeritus titles to two university retirees, Dr. Robert \u201cBob\u201d Falgout and Dr. David Middleton. Falgout, who retired as a professor of agriculture in 1998 and has directed the Cane Sugar Refiners\u2019 Institute and the Raw Cane Sugar Manufacturers\u2019 Institute at 果冻APP for 37 years, was awarded the title professor emeritus. Middleton, who served as 果冻APP\u2019 distinguished service professor and head of the Department of Languages and Literature until his retirement from teaching in 2010, was granted the title of poet-in-residence emeritus. The title of 果冻APP poet-in-residence will pass to assistant professor of English Jay Udall.<\/p>\n<p>Recognizing the role that faculty members play outside of the classroom, the annual Apple Awards program honored six 果冻APP employees. Dr. Katherine Conner, assistant professor of English, was named Outstanding Faculty Adviser of a Student Organization. Dr. Ramaraj Boopathy, distinguished service professor of biological sciences, received the Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award. Dr. Scott Banville, assistant professor of English, was presented the Outstanding Faculty Support for Student Activities Award. The Student Affairs Faculty Merit Award went to Dr. Elizabeth Block, associate professor of teacher education. Dr. Luke Cashen, associate professor of management and MBA director, and Dr. Kimberly Reynolds, program coordinator of family and consumer sciences, were presented the award for receiving the most letters of commendation from recent graduates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>果冻APP awarded emeritus titles to two university retirees at its fall Faculty Institute Wednesday, Aug. 13.
