Callais Student Recreation Center will host Kid Fit Camp.<\/p>\n<p>Open to children ages 9 to 13, the two-week camp will not only focus on weight management but also on the importance of exercising, choosing nutritious foods and building self-esteem. The weekday camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, June 16, through Friday, June 27. Registration is $300 and will be limited to the first 25 children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an exciting opportunity for youth to learn to make mindful, healthy decisions,\u201d said Mike Matherne, camp coordinator and director of campus recreation. \u201cWe want to empower children to enhance their lives and transform their futures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kid Fit campers will participate in traditional and nontraditional activities, such as kickball, swimming, yoga and BodyPump. Licensed professional counselors will hold sessions designed to help children feel better about themselves and more confident. Camp staff include representatives from university departments such as campus recreation, health services, counseling services and dietetics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWeight-loss management techniques and tricks need to be simple, scientific and sustainable,\u201d said Kat Slosarek, camp staff member and certified personal trainer.<\/p>\n<p>The Kid Fit Camp is one of several programs conducted through the 果冻APP Office of Continuing Education.
