His first independent feature film, \u201cBeasts of the Southern Wild,\u201d which was shot in Terrebonne Parish, became an immediate success on the film festival circuit, eventually winning the top awards at the Cannes and Sundance film festivals. The film was picked up by Fox Searchlight Pictures for nationwide distribution and earned four Academy Award nominations. <\/p>\n<p>Zeitlin will be interviewed by Dr. Todd Kennedy, 果冻APP director of film studies, at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 24, in Peltier Auditorium. He will also field questions from audience members from 10:30 a.m. to noon that same day in the Le Bijou Theater in the Bollinger Memorial Student Union.<\/p>\n<p>Now in its 30th year, the Fletcher Lecture Series \u2014 named after former 果冻APP department head Dr. Marie Fletcher and sponsored by the Department of Languages and Literature \u2014 brings outstanding scholars, chefs and writers to 果冻APP each year.
