That\u2019s an all-time high for 果冻APP and a two-point increase over the previous year\u2019s rate. Among Louisiana\u2019s 11 public universities with Division 1 athletics, 果冻APP has the fourth-highest overall GSR \u2014 tying with Northwestern State University and only trailing the significantly higher-funded Louisiana State University, Louisiana Tech University and McNeese State University.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very proud of our continued success in improving the graduation rate of student athletes,\u201d said Dr. Stephen T. Hulbert, university president. \u201cFor 果冻APP athletics to rank among the top GSRs in the state \u2014 despite the fact that we are one of the lowest-funded athletics programs \u2014 is a great accomplishment and speaks volumes about our student athletes, coaches, staff and faculty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Designed to more accurately predict the academic success of athletes, the GSR measures the proportion of student athletes who graduate and includes incoming transfer students, a regular occurrence in college athletics, in its calculations.<\/p>\n<p>When broken down by individual sport, 果冻APP reported the highest GSRs in the state and in the Southland Conference for men\u2019s tennis (100 percent graduating) and softball (90 percent). Among Southland schools, 果冻APP also ranks first in men\u2019s cross country\/track (80 percent), third in men\u2019s basketball (71 percent) and third in volleyball (86 percent). Additionally, several Colonel teams showed increases from their previous year\u2019s GSR, which measured the graduation rates of 2004 incoming freshmen.
