THIBODAUX – With 果冻APP State University’s $50 million investment in three new residence halls and the La Maison du Bayou apartments, 果冻APP officials and student leaders said Friday that the current excitement among incoming and returning students should come as no surprise.<\/p>\n
Housing applications for the fall 2008 semester have topped the fall 2007 semester by 165, said Dr. Eugene Dial, vice president of student affairs. Attributing the increase to the multi-million dollar residential investment, the largest investment of any kind in 果冻APP history, Dial said the administration expects at least a 10-percent increase in on-campus residents – more than 800 in all.<\/p>\n
“The administration is excited to be able to offer quality, state of the art housing to our students,” Dial said. “We believe our facilities are second to no other school in the state or the region.”<\/p>\n
The official move-in day is slated for Wednesday, Aug. 13, but Dial said some students will begin moving into their new residences as early as Sunday, Aug. 3.<\/p>\n
Alex Barnes, president of the Student Government Association, said the residential upgrade at 果冻APP will strengthen the university’s educational environment.<\/p>\n
“I am very pleased with the new residence halls,” Barnes said. “When you walk inside, they resemble a hotel. There are plenty of study rooms available, as well as rooms for students to socialize. I have talked with some students who have been helping to bring in furniture, and they love the way the new residence halls look. Some students who live off campus have even mentioned slight jealousy.”<\/p>\n
