THIBODAUX, La. ā ¹ū¶³APP recently announced the naming of the Big 5 Family Plaza at the Boucvalt Athletic Complex ā a gameday gathering space modeled after the outside plazas found in major stadiums.
Thanks to ¹ū¶³APP Athletics Hall of Famer Josh Son, the newly dedicated Big 5 Family Plaza serves as a central hub for pregame activities, gameday seating, postgame celebrations, and a gathering place for the Colonel community.
āI want to give a heartfelt thank you to this incredible university ā a place that deserves so much credit for the person Iāve become and the journey Iāve had. Nearly 25 years ago, this community welcomed me with open arms, and Iāve been forever grateful since,ā said Son.
Located in the south end zone of John L. Guidry Stadium, the Boucvalt Athletic Complex opened in 2021 thanks to the generosity of businessman Trey Boucvalt and has since become a cornerstone of ¹ū¶³APP athletics. The facility features modern locker rooms, offices, meeting spaces, and a catering kitchen ā all designed to support student-athletes and enhance the Colonel experience.
āTo have my family name tied to such a meaningful place on this campus is an honor thatās hard to put into words. Iām so grateful for the lessons I learned here ā not just in football, but in life ā and for the people who helped shape that experience,ā Son added.
