Though only being a member of the 果冻APP faculty for a short time, Dr. Alexis Fabrizio鈥檚 unique and up-beat teaching style has quickly made her a favorite amongst 果冻APP students. Dr. Alex Fabrizio鈥檚 ENGL 101 students collaborated with South Lafourche High School鈥檚 college-bound seniors for a semester-long service-learning partnership. In the partnership鈥檚 first phase, ENGL 101 students used their expertise in writing personal narratives to create multimodal projects. In their projects, the 101 students suggested best practices for the seniors鈥 college application essays. Additionally, Dr. Fabrizio鈥檚 ENGL 102 students, in conjunction with the Student Government Association, visited the Whitney Plantation as part of their course theme 鈥淗istory in the Present.鈥 Students discussed and practiced research in the disciplines, including field work and archival research.
Outside of the classroom, Dr. Fabrizio has worked diligently to publish her writing. In the Fall of 2019, Dr. Fabrizio presented her paper 鈥淪alkey鈥檚 鈥楽parks鈥 and Lamming鈥檚 鈥楻oots鈥: Map-Making and Urban London in BBC Radio鈥檚 Caribbean Programs鈥 at the Modernist Studies Association Conference. Additionally, Dr. Fabrizio鈥檚 article “V. S. Naipaul and George Lamming at the BBC: Reconsidering the Windrush Generation鈥檚 Political Art” will be published in ARIEL: A Review of International English Literature later this year.
